The last war

The Last War in Eberron began in 894 YK when King Jarot of Galifar died, leaving the throne to his eldest daughter, Mishann of Cyre. However, his other children refused to recognize her claim, and the Five Nations—Cyre, Aundair, Breland, Karrnath, and Thrane—plunged into a century-long civil war over the right to rule the united kingdom.

The conflict was marked by shifting alliances, new weapons, and widespread destruction. The war’s turning point came on the Day of Mourning in 994 YK, when a magical catastrophe obliterated Cyre, leaving a toxic wasteland known as the Mournland. Horrified by this devastation, the remaining nations agreed to peace talks.

The treaty

The war officially ended in 996 YK with the Treaty of Thronehold, which recognized the sovereignty of twelve nations and dissolved the Kingdom of Galifar. The treaty brought an uneasy peace to Eberron, but tensions and unresolved disputes still simmer, threatening to reignite the conflict….

102 years of resentment.

Today the embers of war are smoldering beneath the surface of a fragile peace. In Breland, the scars of conflict ran deep, manifesting in a surge of criminal activity that threatened to unravel the nation’s delicate recovery. Supply chains faltered as raiders struck with alarming frequency, evading the overstretched local militia. Soon, food may grow scarce, and honest work is becoming a luxury.

Rumours are circulating around Breland that the King’s Dark Lanterns organisation is enlisting locals to help with their intelligence-gathering efforts. They are seeking assistance in gathering information and combat rising criminal activities in the land. This move aims to bolster their operations and maintain control amid increasing unrest.

It’s autumn in Breland.

This is where your story begins. This land is your home and these are your people, for better or worse. But, your goals and desires are uniquely yours. As the events of the world unrawel before you, will you step forward, allowing yourself to be swept up by the currents of history? Or will you chart your own course.

The choice is always yours.
